5 Super Simple Ways to Improve Your Personal Brand Website

If you’re a coach, creative, or service provider, your website isn’t just “a website.”

It’s your shop window, portfolio, and sales pitch all rolled into one. Clients are checking it out before they book a call, so it needs to show off your personality and professionalism.

But here’s the secret: you don’t need a full rebrand or months of design work to get there.

A handful of small tweaks can instantly make your site feel more polished and client-ready.

Here are five super simple website improvements that will give your personal brand a serious glow-up.

1. Get your Favicon on-brand

That tiny image in your browser tab? That’s your favicon.

Many people ignore it, but for personal brands, it’s prime real estate for recognition.

Use your initials, a bold brand symbol, or a simplified version of your logo.

Not sure what size to make it? There’s actually not one single size that is recommended e.g.:

  • Browser Tabs & Bookmarks: 16x16px

  • High-Resolution Displays: 32x32px or 48x48px

  • iOS (Apple Touch Icons): 180x180px

  • Android: 192x192px

  • Search Engines: Google requires a multiple of 48px square, like 48x48px or 96x96px.

Okay, so I need to make it in five different sizes? Who has time for that?

My recommendation is: 144x144px

(This should satisfy most needs icluding Google’s need to be a multiple of 48px)

And what filetype? I recommend .PNG

And don’t forget you can have a transparent background if you’d like too.

Who knew such a tiny element of your website could end up being so complex?

It’s still worthwhile adding it to your website.

It helps your site look professional and memorable to potential clients browsing multiple tabs.

2. Show Off With High-Resolution Images

Want to know one of the quickest ways to make your website look amateur?

Blurry, stretched, or pixelated images.

If you’ve invested in a brand photoshoot (and let’s face it, they’re not cheap), don’t waste those beautiful visuals with low-quality uploads.

  • Optimise images for high resolution and fast load speed

  • Use modern formats like WebP or compressed JPGs

  • Test on both desktop and mobile screens

Professional imagery = professional vibes.

3. Keep Your Fonts Stylish (But Readable)

Fonts do more than just look pretty.

They set the entire tone of your website.

Messy, outdated, or over-styled typography can make even the best design look cheap.

Here’s what works:

  • Stick to two fonts max (one for headings, one for body text)

  • Prioritise legibility

  • Make sure your font sizes adjust well on mobile

Good typography is like good manners online: subtle, classy, and makes people want to stick around.

Typography is a foundational element for branding, and so the fonts you pick have a big impact on how people will view your business.

But never pick style over legibility.

4. Make Your Colours Accessible (And On-Brand)

Colour choice isn’t just about aesthetic.

If your colour scheme doesn’t have enough contrast, your content can be hard (or even impossible) to read for some visitors.

That means people will bounce — and search engines take note.

  • Use a contrast checker tool to test your palette

  • Make sure buttons and text stand out clearly

  • Keep accessibility in mind for all users

In short: an accessible website = a user-friendly website.

5. Nail Your Calls to Action

What do you want your visitors to do?

Buy, book, sign up, subscribe?

If your calls to action aren’t clear and compelling, people won’t take the next step.

Strong CTAs are:

  • Short, action-driven (“Book Now” > “Submit”)

  • Placed throughout the site (not just at the bottom)

  • Designed to stand out with buttons, not plain links

Bonus tip: regularly check for broken links.

A dead button kills trust instantly.
